All,
We’re planning to take some time during the checkpoint to give what is effectively some background and training on how we’ve been thinking about our strategy.
The objective is to help everyone enhance their frame of reference so you can better align your decision making day to day.
In terms of homework, it would be very useful if you could listen to these two Podcasts from Jim Collins ahead of time.

I had intended to send the first link last week.. its a great Podcast. I listened to the second while cleaning up the house this morning., its a great complement to the first.
At the end of the day the “Good to Great” framework has always been a cornerstone of how we’ve thought about strategy.. and obviously (or perhaps not) where we got our headline goal of “building a great company”..
If you make it through the Jim Collins homework my second recommendation is that everyone reads the “Trillion Dollar Coach”..
Although we’re a technology company we’ve always had a “people-first” approach and Eric Schmidt’s recollection of Bill Campbell’s approach is the best handbook I’ve ever read on the subject.
Big overlap with Collin’s of course.
I ask pretty much everyone I take to lunch if they’ve read the Trillion Dollar Coach yet… only about 20% of you have to date.. the rest are missing a great educational opportunity.
Cheers,
Danny
