Happy, satisfied customers are the best advertisement for any business, especially in “village” sectors like Fintech where everybody talks to each other, all the time. And every once in a while, if you’re lucky, a customer is so happy that they want to scream it from the roof tops (see below).
I’ve always been a firm believer that the key to understanding the Fintech sector is this “village” effect, and companies can get a long, long way by simply delivering great customer service and doing so consistently. This was the bedrock of the Wombat business model back in the day and is front and centre again, in the approach Options is taking.
It is an outlook that also steams from the belief that while there is all sorts of skulduggery in the world of Fintech (as in any other sector), the firms that excel at delivering for customers and helping their customers be successful will inevitably bubble up to the top in the long term. That is our model and we’ll stick to it.
As for building a team capable of delivering such a model, and as regular readers of this blog will know, it has long been my belief that young people from Northern Ireland (and often those from the Country, interestingly) have a unique edge when it comes to this type of service delivery. I spoke recently about my hiring philosophy in another post on here and these beliefs were certainly at the root of the hiring strategy at Wombat and will again be to the fore when filling the 30 jobs Options announced for Belfast earlier today. This is not to say there aren’t lots of talented folks from all around the world, the Options team is case and point, just that Northern Ireland tends to have a little bit of an advantage.
So to any graduates, interns, etc, who think they have what it takes to work in a booming global sector, with a focus on technology, lots of scope for travel, be to New York, London or Hong Kong, lots of potential for advancement and all while working as part of an energetic global team, we have the opportunity for you.
We are looking to hire folks from all degree paths; in particular, if you have a passion for technology (i.e. you run a linux server farm in your bedroom), customer service (you might work in your local bar), teamwork (you captained your school or university sports team) or digital marketing (maybe you’ve produced short films with your friends) we definitely have a role for you.
